Modules will be used to organize content. Each unit will start with an overview with essential questions, can do statements for the assessment, and linked Quizlet lists for the vocabulary and structures if available.

Class notes(presentations, activities, assignments) will be organized by weeks. Each week will be titled within a module with a header, for example "Week of January 5th".

Under the header I will insert pages. I will call Jour 1 Mondays, Jour 2 Wednesdays, and Jour 3 Fridays. This will be adjusted if we have a day off on a Monday for example or if our schedule goes back to in person.

I will call Maison 1 Tuesdays and Maison 2 Thursdays.

A large number of assignments and quizzes will be done in Canvas.

Some assignments will be done with an external tool such as Quizlet, Conjuguemos, or Edpuzzle. These will be linked/accessible in Canvas.

OVERVIEW

This class gives students an opportunity to expand their understanding of French language and culture by communicating in varied situations at a novice high level or above.

GOALS: French 4 students ...

Participate in conversations mostly in French
Write rich and organized paragraphs using more than one time frame
Listen to and understand French speakers from videos, songs, radio/TV/online programs or conversations between natives
Read and analyze authentic texts such as articles, literary extracts, announcements, ads, letters, or visual documents
Explore cultural aspects of French speaking countries

Instructor

Mme Nesmith:

I am a native from France. I was born and grew up in Rouen (Links to an external site.), Normandy (Links to an external site.). I attended the Université de Rouen (Links to an external site.) and graduated with a Master's degree in German education.

This is my 16th year at Mountain Vista. I am looking forward to help you discover the language and culture of the French speaking world.
